From Beirut we'll momentum withal the tailspin to reach the warmed-over municipality of Batroun where we'll discover a thousand-year-old town with remains of the Phoenician port dating from the 14th century BC and a maze of alleys substantially surrounded by towers of the Ottoman era. After having enjoyed a traditional local lemonade, we will momentum a few kilometer to visit the crusader fortress of Mseilha. From there we'll momentum a few minutes to discover the Orthodox convent of Saydet el Nourriye, perched at the top of the cliff overlooking the Mediterranean. After having visited the chapel on the cliff, we will hit the skirting road when to Byblos, municipality where the alphabet was invented. After having enjoyed good local lunch on our way, we will visit the Byblos fortress, a monumental stack of Phoenician, Greek, Roman and Crusader buildings. After spending some good time in town, we will resume our way to Beirut. Departure 9am from Beirut. Return early evening. Time of the Year: April to December Minimum 3 persons Step 1 - Morning visit of Batroun Located on the tailspin at well-nigh 50km from Beirut, Batroun is one of the oldest cities in the world. The name of "Batruna" is once mentioned in texts dated 14th century B.C.. One can still see the remains of the harbor protection wall surrounding the old city. The town boasts historic churches from Roman Catholicism and Greek Orthodox. The town is moreover known as a major waterfront resort. The current towers was then reworked virtually 1624 by Emir Fakhr-al-Din II who retained architectural elements typical of the period of the Crusades, such as shooting slits. The fort can be accessed by stairs and can visited from inside. Bring with you If you're on tourist visa, don't forget your passport. If you're resident, take your ID or residency card.
